County Meet: Maryland Files Protest Against Bong

Africa-Press – Liberia. Monrovia- Maryland Football team has filed in a protest against Bong for the allegedly use of five illegal players in their quarterfinal match.

Bong County on Sunday January 8, 2023 defeated Maryland 4-3 to advance to the semi-final to play Lofa County.

After the game Maryland handed in a protest against Bong for using six players who they said played in the game and shouldn’t have due to the eligibility regulation of the competition.

Maryland indicated in their protest that instil of the approve second division players Bong County had five second division players.

In their protest Maryland said player Jasper Toe who with jersey number 24 did not provide a playing card during inspection and his name was not in the Ministry of Youth and Sports portal.

“This letter serves as our official filing of a protest against the Bong County Team on Player Jasper Toe Jersey, who did not provide a playing card for inspection, coupled with his name not in the Portal system as a registered player of Bong County,”

According to Maryland Counts Article XI of the player eligibility of the National County Sports Meets 2023 rules and regulations Section 13.3 states Player cards/Forms must be duly validated signed and stamped by the concerned Association/Federation and approval by the Ministry of Youth Sports.

“Moreover, according to Section 13.5 of the same rules states there shall be no taking of Photograph of any player/Athlete who does not possess his or her players ID/Athlete card prior to the commencement of the match. Except where the cards was confirmed missing taking or kept by the organizing Committee. Hence, we see this as a total violation of the rules governing the National County Meet 2023.

Article 14.2 states that two players from the first division and Three (3) players from the second division will be allow to participate in the National County Sports meet 2022-2023 County sport Meet (Football)

“We also see this as a total and gross violation on the part of Bong County, for registering as well as fielding more than three (3) second division players in the current National County Sports Meet 2022- 2023. Meanwhile, the Five (5) players used in the violations are:

1) Aboulaye Sheriff #21 is a player used in our game against Bong County, he came on as a substitute player. He lastly played in the LFA Second division League for Bong Ranger and had not played for any Third 3 division team. He was registered by Bong County as a Third (3) division player of ASA FC. when he has not even played in the 2022-2023 third (3) division League: It is good to make to note that ASA Fc is a Margibi based Third (3) division club. Which players under the Margibi Third division Sub-Committee that has not commenced it 2022-2023 league season.

“John Harris wearing Jersey #8 he lastly played for Bong County for bong County based 2 division club Bong Ranger in the orange 2 division league but was registered in the National County Sports meets as a virgin player. He has player in the tournaments for more than Four(4) years and his registration as a virgin player is in violation of Article 14 2and 14.3 that states that a team promoted or relegated qualifies her players automatically after feeding that player in a LFA sanction League(Football).

“George Jackson #5 is a second division player playing in the LFA 2n division league with Samina FC who was recently promoted to the 2 tier.

“Jones Clinton wearing Jersey #1 for Bong County. He lastly played for Bong Ranger in the Orange 2 division National league and has not played for any club after the team was just sold.

“Titus Yah wearing Jersey #3 of Bong County and is currently playing in the LFA National Second Division league for Toni FC,” Maryland started in their protest letter.

Maryland is therefore calling on the protest committee of the County Meet to investigate and look into their protest.

When contacted the chairman of the National County Meet protest committee Malcom Joseph confirm that his committee has received a protest from Maryland County.

Mr. Joseph told FrontPage Africa that a preliminary investigation has started into the Maryland Protest.

“The Committee will meet on Tuesday, January 10 to look into this protest and in an assure you we will come out with the result very soon,” Mr. Joseph said.

Meanwhile, its the second time in this year’s county meet for a protest to be filed against Bong County.

Sinoe County after their 2-1 defeat to Bong County in filed a protest against Bong for using what they term an illegal player against them but after an investigation by the Protest committee Bong won the protest.
