Africa-Press – Liberia. Courage Medical and Rehabilitation Center has again come to the aid of the Bong County Health Team with a large consignment of medical supplies, reinforcing more than a decade of continuous support to the county’s health sector by the center’s founder, Liberia-born and United States–based humanitarian, Dennis Garsinii.

The donation was made at the Red Cross Warehouse in Gbarnga, where representatives of the center and officials of the County Health Team convened for the formal handover ceremony.

The materials, which fill an entire warehouse, include protective gear, hospital bedding, sanitation supplies, medications, medical tools, and various clinical consumables needed for everyday operations at health facilities across the county. The items were received by Sam Siakor, Administrator of the Bong County Health Team, who accepted them on behalf of the county’s health authorities and pledged that the supplies would reach the health facilities that need them most.

Speaking during the turnover, Courage Medical Center Administrator Musa Fofana explained that the latest gesture forms part of a long-standing effort led by Mr. Garsinii, who has spent more than ten years supplying essential medical equipment to hospitals and clinics throughout Bong County.

He noted that in previous years the center often delivered these donations directly to individual facilities but decided that a more structured and transparent approach would be achieved by channeling the supplies through the County Health Team.

He said this change ensures proper prioritization and distribution through the county’s official medical supply chain, allowing the health authorities to allocate the materials according to the needs of various districts and health posts.

Fofana explained that the assortment of supplies ranges from personal protective equipment to detergents for sanitation, surgical and examination gloves, insulin tablets, bandages, alcohol swabs, mattresses, stethoscopes, IV drip stands, and a wide collection of plastic medical items used for patient care. He stressed that the intent of Mr. Garsinii is to strengthen the delivery of healthcare in his home county and to ensure that medical workers are adequately equipped to serve their communities.

Receiving the donation, Administrator Sam Siakor expressed deep appreciation to Courage Medical Center and to Mr. Garsinii, whom he described as a long-time partner whose generosity is no surprise to the health team.

Siakor said that while some residents may find such a large donation impressive, those within the health sector recognize it as part of an ongoing commitment from Mr. Garsinii. He emphasized that many health facilities across the county have been struggling with shortages of essential items, and the arrival of new supplies, especially durable mattresses and emergency-use materials, will provide immediate relief.

He added that the County Health Team would immediately begin sorting the supplies, with District Health Officers already available to assist in determining which facilities receive which items.

Siakor used the occasion to call on other well-meaning citizens, especially those living abroad, to follow the example set by Mr. Garsinii. He stressed that while government support remains crucial, it is impossible for the government alone to meet every need across the health system.

Siakor said they will compile a comprehensive report of how the materials are distributed once the sorting and allocation process is completed. He assured the public that the supplies will be directed to medical facilities in Gbarnga, Yolota, Totota, Sanoyea, and other areas that have long been in need of additional support, ensuring that the donation has a wide and meaningful impact throughout Bong County.

Community-driven support, he said, plays a vital role in improving maternal waiting homes, clinics, and hospitals across the county. According to him, when individuals decide to make an impact in their communities, the benefit is felt directly by the people long before it is recognized at the national level.

The donation further cements a productive partnership between Courage Medical Center and the Bong County Health Team, a relationship health authorities describe as beneficial to thousands of residents who rely on public health services.
