Africa-PressLiberia. We regret to announce the passing of Mr. Henry Peeu Walker on October 7th, 2021, at the home of his daughter in Columbus, Ohio (USA). Henry P. Walker, as he was commonly called, was born on June 15th, 1934, in Middletown Maryland County. Mr. Walker attended Saint Francis High School in Pleebo and graduated from Martha Tubman Memorial High School in Monrovia.

He went on to complete his Bachelor of Business Administration at the University of Liberia. Mr. Walker pursued graduate studies at the University of Southern California in the United States of America where he completed his master’s in business administration with a concentration in Accounting.

Upon his return to Liberia, Mr. Henry P. Walker was appointed as the Commissioner of Income Tax during President William R. Tolbert’s administration. He went on to serve as the Commissioner of Internal Revenue during President Samuel K. Doe’s administration until he resigned and accepted the position of Tax Auditor with Firestone Rubber Plantation company to function as the liaison between Firestone and the government of Liberia. He later transferred to the position of Senior Auditor at Firestone and worked in that position for several years until his retirement.
