Monrovia, Liberia; October 9, 2025 – The Alternative National Congress (ANC) has criticized the government here for its alleged deceit, secrecy, and corruption.

In a news conference on Wednesday, the ANC, through its National Secretary-General, Desmond Nimely, stated that the government has delivered deceit, secrecy, and corruption, contrary to what was promised to the Liberian people in exchange for state power.

“This government came to power preaching integrity and accountability, but has delivered only deceit, secrecy, and corruption,” Nimely said.

In his criticism, Nimely pointed to the collapse of the Liberian economy into hopelessness, whereas prices of basic commodities, including rice, gasoline, transportation, and water, have skyrocketed beyond the reach of ordinary citizens, causing an unbearable living.

He also highlighted a contentious health crisis with hospitals and clinics across the country lacking basic medicines and equipment, while patients are dying due to underpaid doctors and nurses, and the effects and unchecked spread of narcotic drugs, among other things, about which the government has been deceitful.

According to the ANC scribe, the unexplained handling of public contracts and silence cover-up of scandals—including rape allegation against suspended Deputy Minister McGill—are all factors of deceit, secrecy, and recklessness.

At the same time, the party condemned what they describe as a reckless, baseless, and politically motivated attack by Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah against its political leader, Mr. Alexander B. Cummings.

The ANC says the government is going in circles, instead of being a Rescue Mission, while warning Piah and Sando to address these harsh realities rather than attacking key opposition figures like Mr. Cummings, something the party describes as a shameful reflection of a government that has lost moral and political direction.

Recently, Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah, on Class Reloaded, accused Cummings of being dishonest with himself for saying nothing has changed in the country when the government has succeeded in paving roads, providing stable electricity, and reducing the prices of commodities, among other achievements.

His deputy, Daniel Sando, has denounced Cummings as a political dupe whose height is affecting his eyesight and arguably determining his future.

But the ANC has vowed to go after any strayed dog that will castigate its political leader.
