Africa-Press – Liberia. East International construction company is making steady progress on the Robertsfield Highway, despite construction being affected by rains.

FrontPageAfrica observed that the company has made some gains at some sections of the four-lane super highway that leads from ELWA Junction to Roberts International Airport.

The road has been divided into several sections for different types of construction works as required in accordance with the topography of the area.

At KM 3 within section 1 of the highway, EAST is constructing U ditch at LHS as a means of collecting and controlling the runoff.

Meanwhile, EAST is also continueing with the pavement at KM 41 at the LHS within section 2.

Final layer of base coarse placement and compaction are also going at KM 42 at RHS. Although the weather is challenging due to constant rainfall but EAST continues to pick chances with every better weather condition.

The 45-kilometre road expansion project commenced in September 2021, and was scheduled for completion within three years with targeted completion in 2024. It is estimated to cost US$116 million. On completion, the expanded RIA highway will comprise a four-lane road with street and traffic lights along the route and at intersections. It will also have standardized culvert and drainage systems.
