Eight Judiciary Circuit Court In Nimba Grants WBHO-SC Relief

Africa-Press – Liberia. The Management of Wilson Bayly-Holmes-OVCON-Swedish Crown (WBHO-SC) has officially informed the media about a significant ruling by the Eight Judiciary Circuit Court in Sanniquellie, Nimba County.

The court granted WBHO-SC’s motion for relief from a previous judgment that had awarded damages of two million United States Dollars (USD 2,000,000) in favor of the plaintiff.

The original case concerned a tragic incident in August 2025 involving the death of a family member caused by a vehicle owned by a subcontractor engaged by Arcelor Mittal Liberia.

The initial court ruling held WBHO-SC liable, imposing the two million dollar damages on the company. However, according to WBHO-SC CEO Michael J. Teekay, the earlier judgment favored his company and the recent adverse ruling was unexpected.

Mr. Teekay disclosed that WBHO-SC was not aware of the second adverse judgment until after it had been issued. Consequently, the company promptly filed a motion seeking relief from the judgment on the grounds that the court had overlooked critical facts and that there were procedural discrepancies that warranted judicial reconsideration.

After thorough review, the Eight Judiciary Circuit Court agreed with WBHO-SC’s position and granted the motion for relief from judgment, effectively setting aside the previous two million dollar award against the company.

This decision restores WBHO-SC to its prior standing in the case and means the company is no longer liable for the damages as per the recent court ruling. WBHO-SC’s management expressed gratitude to the court for its impartial and diligent consideration of the motion.

They emphasized their commitment to upholding the rule of law, ethical business standards, and transparency in all operations, assuring the public and stakeholders of their continued dedication to these principles.

Additionally, WBHO-SC clarified that any earlier reports or publications regarding the two million dollar damages judgment have now been nullified by the court’s relief order.

The company reiterated its intent to pursue further legal remedies, including a new trial if necessary, to conclusively resolve the matter in accordance with justice.

This legal development highlights the dynamic nature of judicial proceedings and the importance of vigilance in protecting corporate interests through timely legal actions.

WBHO-SC’s proactive approach showcases its resolve to defend its reputation and ensure fair treatment within Liberia’s legal system.
