Africa-Press – Liberia. Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Thomas P. Fallah, has publicly addressed and dismissed recent media reports alleging a plot to remove the top leadership within the Liberian House of Representatives.
His statements on Monday, January 6, 2026, aim to clarify recent media speculation that efforts were underway to remove either the Speaker or the Deputy Speaker of the House.
Deputy Speaker Fallah refuted these claims during an appearance on the State Radio Super Morning Show. He labeled such reports as misinformation intended to mislead the public, emphasizing that no such resolution or plan exists within the House.
Fallah affirmed that Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon retains the full confidence and support of himself and their legislative colleagues. He stressed that any news regarding the removal of the Speaker or Deputy Speaker is untrue and described such rumors as both false and misleading.
The Deputy Speaker praised Speaker Koon’s leadership, noting his quiet, flexible, and consultative approach. Fallah highlighted that Speaker Koon regularly seeks advice and engages in consultation with him and other members, which has contributed to effectively addressing challenges within the Legislature.
While acknowledging existing challenges, particularly issues related to salary payments, Fallah called for patience, understanding, and collective responsibility among lawmakers. He also underscored the importance of robust legislative oversight, especially as the Legislature prepares to resume its third session on Monday, January 12, 2026.
Meanwhile, Fallah outlined the priorities for the upcoming session, which include strengthening legislative oversight, ensuring effective representation, and passing improved laws. He also emphasized the need for greater coordination among the three branches of government to serve the Liberian people better.
