FC Fassell has officially unveiled Amir Alagic, a seasoned Australian-Bosnian Coach and UEFA Pro License Holder as the club’s new head coach ahead of their much-anticipated CAF Champions League Campaign.
The 64-year-old tactician arrived in Liberia on Tuesday via Roberts International Airport and was warmly received by Miss Fatine Soclo, the Club’s Vice President for International Affairs.
His appointment marks the beginning of a new chapter for the “Soccer Missionaries” as they aim to establish themselves among Africa’s footballing elite.
Alagic, who boasts an extensive resume spanning Europe, Asia, and Oceania, replaces Ivan Minnaert, who guided Fassell to the Liberia First Division title before departing to take up a new role with Vipers SC in Uganda earlier this month.
From Bundesliga to the CAF Champions League Dream
Alagic’s Coaching Career includes roles across multiple levels, from youth development to national teams, with notable stints at, Werder Bremen (Germany – Bundesliga), Al-Riyadh (Saudi Arabia – Head Coach, Drita (Kosovo – Head Coach), Al-Nasr Academy (UAE – Youth Development)
He has also served as head coach of Brunei and Sri Lanka national teams and managed youth sides for Bosnia & Herzegovina U19 and Libya U23.
Renowned for his emphasis on tactical discipline, youth development, and structured football philosophy, Alagic brings with him a level of technical know-how that FC Fassell believes can elevate the club to continental relevance.
“Coach Amir’s experience speaks for itself,” said Cassell Kouh, President and CEO of Fassell FC. “This is not just a hire, it’s a statement. FC Fassell is serious about not only competing but thriving on the African stage.”
Unveiling Ceremony and New Signings
Alagic was formally presented to the media on Wednesday at FC Fassell’s Headquarters in Monrovia.
The new Fassell Coach was unveiled alongside five new foreign signings, all expected to play key roles in the upcoming CAF Champions League campaign.
Looking Ahead: Continental Ambitions
With the preliminary rounds of the CAF Champions League fast approaching, FC Fassell is confident that Alagic’s international pedigree and leadership style will guide the team beyond the early hurdles of continental competition.
“We want to build a team that not only qualifies but competes,” said Mrs Kouh. “Coach Amir has worked with national teams, top academies, and clubs across continents. His insight will be critical to our journey.”
Alagic is expected to lead his first training session later this week as the club intensifies preparations.
With ambition high and expectations rising, all eyes will now see the new coach to see what difference he brings to Liberian football.
