Africa-Press – Liberia. With the 2023-2024 Orange football season now over for both the Men’s and Women’s clubs of the Liberia national league, attention is already turning towards the 2024-2025 campaign and how teams are preparing for what could be termed as another exciting season.
Every club is looking to make tangible progress next season, especially clubs that were nearly relegated, as well as clubs that are simply preserving their top-flight status or retaining the title.
One of the top-flight clubs, FC Fassell, who escaped her last-day dice with relegation in the just-ended league, is attempting to pick apart the carcasses to modify and reclaim her pre-Ebola glory.
In a program Thursday at the headquarters of FC Fassell in Mamba Point, the Chief Executive Officer, Cassell Kouh, unveiled 15 new players and a technical staff to strengthen and reboot FC Fassell.
Among those unveiled were four foreigners, from Morocco and The Gambia; three former Lonestar players, who have returned after plying international trades and eight local based players.
Amongst the players is a physical trainer, Diffaa Hassani Al Jadidi, who has walloped a three-year deal to ably assist Belgian Coach Ivan Minnaert, who will become the first European football coach to manage a club in the Liberia Football Association First Division League when the 2024/2025 season kicks off in August.
The UEFA Licensed Coach Minnaert was previously unveiled about a month ago, also for three seasons.
Coach Minnaert was hired to help change the face of Liberian football and the players.
Following Coach Minnaert’s instruction to recruit the best talents in the country as well as outside the country to win all the major leagues during his time, all of the current players of FC Fassell (formerly FC Kallon) were offloaded.
According to CEO Kouh, those players will be paid while being offloaded for the brand new players, who are expected to go for a month-long preseason training in Cairo, Egypt.
Fifteen out of the targeted 24 players who were unveiled are: Foreign players – Mustafa Zerzif Miliani (Midfielder, Morocco); Ahmed Tijan Savage (Goalkeeper, The Gambia); and Former Lonestar players – Zah Rahan Krangar, Solomon I. Grimes, and Dauda Bortu.
Others are local based players: Theo Nimely, Peter K. Tokpahzee, Armah N. Moore, Sekou Kamara, Amos Diamgyie, Junious P. Judugbor, Motton Sayon, Peter S. Sorbor, Obed D. Bleah, Vitalis Blamo Sie Jr.
