Africa-Press – Liberia. The world football governing body (FIFA) on Friday, November 21, confirmed fixture schedule for the FIFA World Cup 2026 play-off tournament scheduled in March 2026 in Mexico.
The schedule was unveiled in a draw that took place at FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland.
The semi-finals will be played, with final two tickets to the World Cup set to be decided.
According to FIFA, Guadalajara and Monterrey Stadiums will host two matches each during the play-off tournament which will feature six nations including Bolivia, Congo DR, Iraq, Jamaica, New Caledonia and Suriname.
Guadalajara will host first play-off pathway featuring New Caledonia, Jamaica and Congo DR while Monterrey will host second play-off pathway involving Bolivia, Suriname and Iraq.
The semi-final matches in both cities will be played on March 26, before the finals are contested on March 31.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 play-off tournament will be played in single-leg knockout matches, ensuring high-stakes showdowns in Mexico as the six competing nations seek to secure one of the final places at the first-ever 48 team FIFA World Cup.
