Africa-Press – Liberia. The Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, particularly the Department of Economic Management, has commenced the Public Expenditure Review (PER) Validation Workshop in Kakata, Margibi County.

Speaking at the opening session of the five-day validation workshop, the Assistant Minister for Economic Management, Henry D.Z. Yanquoi described the validation exercise as a critical milestone in finalizing the Public Expenditure Review, a key government process that assesses public spending patterns, improves efficiency, and strengthens public financial management systems across the country.

Minister Yanquoi emphasized that the PER provides a platform for stakeholders to collectively review findings, validate data, and ensure that conclusions reflected in the report are accurate, balanced, and responsive to national development priorities. He noted that the process allows participants from various institutions to contribute technical insights and policy perspectives, thereby enhancing the credibility of the final document.

He further highlighted the importance of domestic resource mobilization and prudent fiscal management, noting that the PER helps the government identify gaps in expenditure efficiency while guiding reforms that support sustainable economic growth and improved service delivery, particularly in key sectors such as education and social services.

Minister Yanquoi urged all participants to remain actively engaged throughout the exercise, stressing that the success of the PER depends on collective ownership, open dialogue, and constructive feedback from all stakeholders.

The MFDP Department of Economic Management expressed appreciation for the continued cooperation and commitment of participating institutions. It reaffirmed its readiness to provide any additional clarification or technical support required to ensure the successful completion and publication of the Public Expenditure Review.
