Africa-Press – Liberia. Liberian football’s rising star William Gibson is on the brink of a major European breakthrough.
FrontPage Africa has reliably learned from the medial Manager of Heaven Eleven Edwin Battaforyen that Heaven Eleven FC has reached an agreement with Swedish top-flight club Hammarby IF for the transfer of the 18-year-old striker.
The deal, concluded for an undisclosed fee, will see the forward commit to a long-term contract in Sweden.
Hammarby is expected to officially unveil the teenager in the coming days.
The Path to Scandinavia
Gibson, widely regarded as one of Liberia’s most clinical attacking prospects, departed the country on Thursday. After a stop in Nigeria to secure his visa,and traveled onward to Stockholm, accompanied by Liberian football agent Frank Motombo Daniels popularly known as “Agent One”.
The “Heaven Eleven goal machine” was not short of suitors. His dominant performances in the LFA First Division reportedly attracted interest from Czech giants Slavia Praha and Spanish side CD Leganés.
However, sources close to the player revealed that Gibson opted for Hammarby, citing the club’s renowned development structure and proven pathway for young African talents.
Gibson’s final appearance for the “Messengers” was a 2–2 draw against Downtown FC on January 25, 2026, where he once again showcased the maturity and tactical awareness that have made him a household name in the domestic league.

Gibson’s arrival in Stockholm marks the continuation of a burgeoning relationship between Liberian football and Hammarby IF.
He becomes the third Liberian player in just two years to join the club, following in the footsteps of Divine Teah and Saah Moses.
