Africa-Press – Liberia. The memberships or rosters of the House of Representatives and the Senate of the 55th Legislature were on Thursday completed following the respective inductions of Jeremiah Garwo Sokan, Sr., as Representative of Grand Gedeh County District #1 and Nya D. Twayen, Jr., as a Senator of Nimba County.

For the past four months, since the inception of the 55th Legislature on January 15, the memberships or rosters of both the House and Representatives and the Senate have been incomplete owing to the death of Representative Erol Madison Gwion, Sr.; and the election of Senator Jeremiah Koung as Vice President of the Republic of Liberia.

During Thursday’s session, the Acting Presiding Officer, Deputy Speaker Fallah, by the House’s Rules and Procedures (in the absence of Speaker Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa), inducted the Grand Gedeh County Electoral District #1 Representative, into office during its 1st day sitting of the second quarter.

At the Senate, the Secretary inducted Senator Nya D. Twayen, Jr.

The inductions follow the certifications of the new lawmakers by the National Elections Commission (NEC) after their successful elections on April 23, 2024, in the By-election.

Accordingly, as part of the induction process, the two newly elected lawmakers presented their certificate of election to the Chief Clerk and Secretary of the Senate respectively, demonstrating as proof of their elections and commitment to upholding the standards set by the Legislature.

In expressing gratitude, Representative Sokan extended his appreciation to the constituents of Grand Gedeh County Electoral District #1 for their unwavering confidence in him, leading to his election. He affirmed his dedication to representing their interests and working towards the betterment of the District.
