Africa-Press – Liberia. The relegation is a major setback for Jubilee FC, which was competing for promotion to the First Division during the 2024-2025 season.

Jubilee Football Club have escalated its dispute with the Liberia Football Association (LFA) by formally appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland, over the club’s relegation from the Second Division to the Third Division.

The club announced its appeal on May 24, 2025, following the LFA’s May 8 confirmation of Jubilee FC’s relegation—a decision the club describes as “procedurally flawed and legally unenforceable.” The appeal comes after the LFA Appeal Board’s internal vote ended in a deadlock, with two members supporting and two opposing the club’s request to overturn the relegation.

Jubilee FC’s relegation stems from the LFA’s penalty for submitting allegedly fraudulent business registration documents. In January 2025, the club was fined US$10,000 and given seven days to pay. Though Jubilee FC admitted fault and proposed a payment plan, the LFA enforced relegation citing non-compliance by the April 10 deadline.

Bishop J. Allan Krayee, CEO of Jubilee FC and a member of the LFA Appeal Board, recused himself from the appeal hearing due to a conflict of interest. LFA Media Manager Anthony Kokoi explained that the tie vote meant the original relegation decision stood.

The relegation is a major setback for Jubilee FC, which was competing for promotion to the First Division during the 2024-2025 season.

In their statement, Jubilee FC thanked their legal team and club officials for their dedication to due process and expressed appreciation to supporters for standing by the club.

The club pledged limited public commentary while the CAS process is ongoing and expressed confidence that the international court will vindicate their case.
