Africa-Press – Liberia. Former Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson T. Koijee has strongly denied allegations circulating on social media that he assaulted journalist Lennart Dodoo, former News Desk Chief of FrontPage Africa and current Managing Editor of The Liberian Investigator.
The claim appeared in a December 11, 2025 post by online platform DTV Liberia, titled “Here Are a Few of the Tragic Events That Occurred During the George Weah Regime from 2018–2023.” The post listed several incidents involving public officials, including an allegation that Koijee seized Dodoo’s gadgets on March 6, 2021.
DTV Liberia specifically attributed the claim under the caption: “Jefferson T. Koijee seized the gadgets of FrontPage Africa editor Lennart Dodoo, March 6, 2021.”
In a statement, Koijee dismissed the allegation as “a diabolical lie,” describing it as completely false and misleading. He said the claim was part of a long-running propaganda campaign aimed at maligning his character.
“This is the work of propagandists whose only intent is to spread lies against me,” Koijee said, adding that similar falsehoods were used against him and his political party while he was in public office and have continued even after his departure.
“I was a victim of damaging propaganda while in office, and even after leaving public service, I continue to be haunted by the same tactics,” he added.
Meanwhile, FrontPage Africa has clarified that it never published any report carrying such an allegation or caption. In a statement, the newspaper emphasized its commitment to press freedom and factual reporting.
While reaffirming that it will not hesitate to hold anyone accountable for threats, intimidation, or assault against its journalists, FrontPage Africa stressed that it remains bound by truth and professional ethics.
“We will not condone any form of threat, assault, or intimidation against any of our reporters,” the statement said. “However, we will also not fall into the temptation of publishing falsehoods that could unfairly tarnish the character of others.”
The paper called on DTV Liberia and other online platforms to verify information thoroughly before publication to avoid the spread of misinformation.
