Africa-Press – Liberia. The Liberia Basketball Association (LBA) is set to officially conclude its 2025 National League Season this Saturday, February 21, at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex Gymnasium in Paynesville.
The ceremony, scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m., is expected to draw high-profile sports personalities, basketball stakeholders, players, and technical staff, alongside officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The event marks the formal end of a season described by enthusiasts as one of the most competitive in recent years.
As a highlight of the program, the LBA will honor outstanding players, coaches, and teams across all categories, including the Male First, Second, and Third Divisions, as well as the Women’s Division.
The 2025 Champions Roll Call
The 2025 season saw fierce competition across the board, with several clubs cementing their dominance in Liberian basketball:
Male First Division: LPRC Oilers, Male Second Division: Bushrod Dreams, Women’s Division: Commissioners, and Male Third Division: Spark Giants
President Samukai Reaffirms Commitment
Speaking ahead of the ceremony, LBA President Abraham B. Samukai reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to decentralizing and strengthening the sport nationwide.
“Our goal remains to elevate the standard of the game in Liberia,” Samukai stated.
He further emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of the sport through fair play, strict adherence to the rules, and fostering a culture of good sportsmanship across all league tiers.
The closing ceremony is expected to serve as both a celebration of the newly crowned champions and a platform to recognize individual excellence, as the LBA looks toward the future of the domestic game.
