Africa-Press – Liberia. The Liberia Football Association (LFA), with the mandate of its Executive Committee, has officially reconstituted the Lone Star Mobilization Committee, naming Rev. Luther Tarpeh as Chairman to spearhead a renewed drive for national team support.
Rev. Tarpeh, who serves as the Chairman of the ruling Unity Party and Chairman of the Board of the National Port Authority (NPA), is tasked with assembling and managing vital resources, including funding, personnel, and technical logistics, to bolster the country’s national football programs.
In an official communication dated February 5, 2026, the LFA confirmed that Tarpeh’s appointment as Chairman of the Lone Star Mobilization and Fundraising Committee is effective immediately and will extend through the end of the 2026 calendar year.
“It is with great pleasure that I convey to you the approval of the Liberia Football Association to appoint you as Chairman of the Lone Star Mobilization and Fundraising Committee,” the LFA stated in the appointment letter.
“Your extensive experience in mobilizing resources and your dedication to the development of football make you an ideal choice to lead this crucial initiative.”
As head of the committee, Rev. Tarpeh will lead strategic efforts to secure corporate sponsorships, financial backing, and logistical assistance.
His role also includes engaging fans and grassroots stakeholders to rally national pride and support for the Lone Star.
The LFA expressed high confidence that Tarpeh’s leadership will catalyze the advancement of Liberia’s football development agenda.
In response to the appointment Rev. Tarpeh posted on social media to accept his position.
He wrote “Qualifying the Liberia Lonestar for the next AFCON 2027.
“The last time we appeared for the nations’ cup was 2002; it has been 24 years since the pride of Liberia was represented at the AFCON.
It is time to break the jinx!”
“I accept this appointment with humility from President Raji and his team. I call on all Liberians irrespective of their political, social and ethnic background to join me and the Mobilization team to make this dream to come true.”
“AFCON 2027 is a must. Please join me and the mobilization team to put smiles on the faces of all Liberians home and abroad.” He concluded.
A Diverse Coalition
The reconstituted committee represents a “who’s who” of Liberian society, blending government officials, private sector giants, entertainers, and football administrators.
The Legislative & Executive Bloc:
The committee features a heavy political presence, including Senators Saah H. Joseph, Momo Cyrus, Johnny Kpehe, and Dabah M. Varpilah, alongside Representatives Foday Fahnbulleh and Emmanuel Dahn.
From the executive branch, Commerce Minister Magdalene E. Dagoseh and LPRC Managing Director Hon. Amos Tweh will play key roles.
Corporate & Private Sector:
Key industry players include Sekou Dukuly (MD, NPA), Cllr. Kunkunyon Teh (Bea Mountain), Eric Swen (ArcelorMittal), Floyd Tomah Sr. (Jungle Water), and Patrick Honnah (LTA).
Civil Society & Entertainment:
To ensure grassroots reach, the LFA has tapped musicians Maurice Tosh Gayflor and Sundaygar Dearboy, comedian John Flomo, and Elizabeth Finda Sambolah of the Liberia Marketing Association.
Football & Technical Administration:
The technical side includes Hilary Sackie (LFA EC Member), Elvis Sirleaf(Samira FC), Varmah Kamara (SWAL), and Cassandra Hampton (Mighty Barrolle).
Ex-Officio Oversight: The committee will be guided by Minister of Youth and Sports-designate Cornelia W. Kruah, LFA First Vice President Prof. Sekou W. Konneh, and Second Vice President Saye-Taayor A. Dolo.
The LFA noted that this broad-based reconstitution underscores its commitment to mobilizing every sector of Liberian society to improve the welfare and international performance of the national teams.
