Liberia: Bong Service Center Generates L$6.5M in 4 Months

Africa-Press – Liberia. While Bong County might not be one of the lucrative or major points of revenue generation in the country, that central county is making strides in contributing to the national coffers to enhance national development.

The funds were broken down into components as per denominations, Liberian dollars and United States dollars, with the local currency making up a huge portion of the revenue generated.

The Coordinator of the Service Center, Jefferson Gbaryan, disclosed that a little over L$3.8 million and US$16k were generated in the County from August to December 2022 alone.

However, this money would have been more if the center offers a range of services, including land deeds, business registrations, and other essential documents.

The Bong County Service Center is one of the many centers established across the country as part of the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf administration’s decentralization plan.

It is aimed at bringing essential services closer to the people, many of whom had to travel long distances for days to come to Monrovia to process their documents. Services include the provision of birth certificates, marriage certificates, driver’s licenses, and many more.

The center was established on April 25, 2016, by an act to deliver essential local services to the people of the county.

The Bong County Service Center boss further said since the establishment of the Center in the county they have not been able to offer services like biometric national identification cards, and divorce certificates among others.
