Africa-Press – Liberia. Mr. Mulbah Morlu, chairman of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change and the Congress for Democratic change (CDC), says he is prepared to make the necessary sacrifice to ensure democratic practices and if that will include him giving out his position through a democratic process he is prepared to do so.

Chairman Morlu said, the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) will shortly hold convention for elected positions in the party, ranging from national and county officials to conventions for candidates for the legislative seats.

Morlu at a Press conference announced that even his position as Chairman is up for grab. He said, only the position of the standard bearer of the CDC will remain reserved for President Weah.

“It doesn’t matter who you are, nobody will by-pass the process; that is why even me will subject myself to the process. In the coming days, we will set up a committee to lead that process. We will build a team to work with the chairman of that committee,” he said.

He named Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson Koijee as the man to chair the process beginning with Montserrado County where he declared vacancy in the positions currently occupied by party officials elected in their last convention.

Mayor Koijee, who is also the chairman of the Coalition for Democratic Change Youth wing announced that his committee with begin work this week to set the stage for the first convention to be held in Montserrado County.

“We have promised you that there would be a process that would be democratic to elect leaders of the party at all level. If you are making decision about people in the future in regards to making decision for people in the legislature you should be a product of that process. You cannot by-pass and expect to be a champion of that process.

“The CDC executive committee has unanimously concluded that the convention for the party in 2022 begins next month in Montserrado County. If giving the people power will victimize me, I am prepared to be victimized by the people.”

Munah-TEC vocational training institute

The CDC chairman also announced the opening of a vocational training institute to be named after the late Montserrado County district #9 lawmaker Munah Pelham-Youngblood. The institution located on the compound of the party will shortly open its doors to the public to provide skills training for interested individuals in areas ranging from building construction, plumbing, Auto mechanic and general electricity amongst many others.

The institution is expected host an initial student capacity of 500 in different disciplines and is open to the public regardless of party and the doors of the vocational training institution will be open on June 1st of 2022 and the first batch of the graduates will be produce in 2023.
