Africa-Press – Liberia. The Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD) in Liberia has rubbished report that the recent attack on the home of former Chief Justice, Gloria Musu Scott which led to the death of her daughter and one person injured and hospitalized was pre-planned.
The home of the former Chief Justice Scott in Virginia was attacked by armed robbery on Wednesday, leaving her niece dead and other family member hospitalized.
But in a statement released HD Liberia described the news of the WhatsApp message circulating on social media from her Lead Facilitator Ambassador Babatunde O. Ajisomo as “fake.”
HD Liberia, however, condemned the attack on the former Chief Justice.
Statement read: The unfortunate news of – and condemns without reservations the attacks on the residence of Cllr Gloria Musu Scott. “
“We welcome the action taken by Liberian authorities to conduct a thorough investigation that will hold to account the perpetrators and bring justice for the victims. “
“We are, furthermore, disturbed by the reference made on social media, particularly on WhatsApp, that alluded to HD Liberia’s Lead Facilitator, former ECOWAS Ambassador Babatunde O. Ajisomo, with the caption titled: ‘just sent: The former ECOWAS Ambassador sent this’. The message that followed implied the attacks on Cllr. Gloria Musu Scott were ‘pre-planned’. “
“In this regard, neither HD, nor the Lead Facilitator, at any time or on any occasion issued or sent such a statement. It is simply the works of peddlers of “fake news” and falsehood. “
“The trajectory and reputation of our Lead Facilitator in Liberia is well known, as the former ECOWAS Ambassador has been recognised as a foremost promoter of peace, stability, justice and reconciliation. His Excellency Ajisomo has continued his efforts to promote these values as HD’s Lead Facilitator, in furtherance of HD’s core values of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence through mediation and dialogue. “
“HD, therefore, reiterates the purported message should in no way be connected to HD’s work or staff, and the reference to HD’s Lead Facilitator should categorically be ignored. “
“Meanwhile, HD is conducting an investigation into the source of the reference made to our Lead Facilitator. “
