Africa-Press – Liberia. The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has apologized to reporter Jaheim Tumu of FrontPageAfrica following a complaint filed against LFA videographer/photographer James B. Sillah.
In the complaint on 22 October, Tumu alleged that he was slapped in the face by Sillah during a post-match press conference after Liberia lost 2-1 to Senegal in a 2022 women’s Africa Cup of Nations first leg first round qualifier at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium on 20 October.
Sillah has admitted to the act but said he was provoked by Tumu, who slapped him on the hand while he was trying to take photos of head coach Robert Lartey, captain Kebeh Lamin and Mimi Eiden. The LFA condemns the act of violence by anyone, including stakeholders, on and off the fieldLF
“Emotions do run high sometimes during the discharge of our duties. The LFA whole-heartedly apologizes to Tumu for the misconduct of James and assures sports journalists of their protection while covering our programs and activities,” said LFA secretary-general Isaac T. Z. Montgomery.
