Africa-PressLiberia. At long last, all is now set for the Liberia National Bar Association to commence the second phase of it’s multipurpose headquarters project along the Tower Hill Community, Roberts International Airport Highway.

The disclosure was made over the weekend by the Bar Secretary-General Cllr. Bobby Livingstone.

The architecture design of the entire project is a four-stores building and the current project is targeting the first floor.

The total cost of the project first phase is estimated at US$200,000, and fully funded by the LNBA.

Mr. Livingstone told FrontPageAfrica that the headquarters project will be implemented by a Liberian-owned company GeoScope Limited, following a competitive bidding process.

“We announce a bid about two months ago for contractors to Express interest we were able to get a company that is 100% Liberian owned to carry out our project,” Mr. Livingstone said.

He said the first phase of the project which includes the casting of the entire foundation was carryout by the previous administration of the bar, which was headed by Cllr. Moses Paigar.

However, he said the current leadership of Cllr. Tiawan Gongloe has seen it prudent that the second phase be completed within the next six months for official use by the bar members.

Livingstone added, that the contract for the pending project will run from the date of the disclosure to February 2022, where the first floor will be completed.

“Once it’s completed, it will be a state-of-art building and I think, the bar will go down in history as the first to be completing such complex,” Cllr. Livingstone maintained.

He further informed, that the bar has included canting, which was never included in the first design.

The decision to include a canting according to Livingstone was made the executive committee of the NBA.

Currently, according to Carter, building materials are being transported to the site and contractors are in full gear for the project.

He said the first 40% payment has been made to the company.

“We also have an independent consultant who will be able to do the project consultancy for the LNBA. We are upbeat at the LNBA and we think it’s a flagship project,” Cllr. Livingstone added.

While the project is in full swing, Livingstone said the LNBA will continue to engage other avenues to source funding promised that body to help implement the project.

“At the time of the lunch of the project, a lot of people committed the bar, to do contribution to the bar, I just want to inform them that now, the project has commenced, we are going to be knocking at your doors to remind you about your pledges,” Livingstone stated.

He said the government also made a commitment of US$100 Thousand towards the project and the LNBA will make a follow-up with relevant authority to get said fund.

Cllr. Livingstone said the modern national headquarters project will also have a conference room that will be used by others from the public, who would be approved by the bar.

The LNBA Secretary-General has attributed the delay in implementing the project to a lack of funding over the years.

However he said with the sound financial policy currently being put in place, a substantial amount has been collected to implement the project.

Cllr. Livingstone also informed the public that the LNBA, following numerous requests from health authorities has sent a team to vaccinate lawyers at designated sites.
