Africa-Press – Liberia. The citizens of Maryland County have wholeheartedly pledged their support to President George Weah in his bid for reelection. Speaking at a political rally in Pleebo, Chief Christian Williams, the acting head of the Council of Chiefs of Maryland, expressed the county’s unwavering support for President Weah in the upcoming October 10 polls.

Chief Christian Williams highlighted President Weah’s numerous accomplishments in Maryland County, including the construction of marketplaces, provision of electricity, ongoing construction of a modern city hall in Pleebo, and assistance with educational expenses such as WAEC fees and tuition waivers at Tubman University. He also acknowledged the president’s dedication in traveling on the deplorable roads, demonstrating the challenges faced by the county’s inhabitants.
Moreover, Chief Williams expressed optimism that President Weah’s reelection would bring about the paving of roads, allowing citizens to travel on them comfortably, even by motorbike. He assured the president that Maryland County would join the ranks of the counties that would contribute to a victorious reelection campaign.
It is no secret that the President has always received huge support not only from Marylanders, but the entire Southeastern region since he began his political career in 2005. He won that county, the home of his rival Alexander Cummings, massively in both rounds of the 2017 presidential election.
At the October 4 rally in Pleebo, Felecia Twaily, Chairperson of the Rural Women of Liberia, extended her gratitude to President Weah for his numerous empowerment projects aimed at benefiting rural women in Maryland County. She expressed pride in having a president who has made them proud during challenging economic times and pledged their support for his reelection, with the belief that it would bring further development to the county.
Also present at the political rally was House Speaker Bohfal Chambers, who described President Weah as a “Prince of Peace” and an extraordinary visionary leader. Speaker Chambers informed the people of Maryland about the government’s approval of funds for the establishment of a technical and vocational college in Gedetabo. He encouraged the citizens of Maryland to vote for President Weah and candidates from the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) in the upcoming elections, emphasizing that they have the county’s best interests at heart.
Expressing his gratitude for the overwhelming support, President Weah praised the people of Maryland for their efforts and mentioned his excitement at witnessing the tremendous turnout to meet him. He thanked Marylanders for their consistent support and promised to continue serving as their president, working towards the betterment of Liberia in his second term. Additionally, President Weah assured the people that road infrastructure in the southeast region, including Maryland, was a priority, with plans for completion within the next six years.
The strong show of support from Maryland County reveals the strong backing that President Weah enjoys as he pursues reelection, with citizens acknowledging his achievements and pledging to continue the momentum of progress under his leadership.
