Africa-Press – Liberia. The Ministry of Youth and Sports has honoured the sponsors of the just-ended 2021-2022 National County Sports Meet. The ceremony which took place on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at a local Hotel in Sinkor, Monrovia witnessed the sponsors being certificated and honoured for their financial and material support to the annual event.
The sponsors include prime sponsors Orange Liberia GSM Company, APM Terminals, ArcelorMittal, LISCR ,Petrol Trade ,Green Petroleum ,Doxx Bet , ACTIVA, SEGAL , ECOBANK and Heineken. ArcelorMittal, according to MYS provided, $120,000.00 as their sponsorship while APM Terminals presented jerseys for the men.
Appreciating the sponsors for their contributions to the National County Sports Meet, Deputy Minister for Administration at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Audrian Smith-Forbes commended the sponsors for their immense support to the biggest sporting event in the country and urged them to continue to support the tournament.
For his part, Deputy Minister for Sports Andy Quimie said the sponsors played a key role in the hosting of the sporting festival. He said in sports sponsorship is important so the Ministry will keep knocking on the doors of companies and businesses in the country to sponsor County meet.
“We thank you for all you did during the county meet because without sponsorship we could not achieve what we achieved.
“With more support for businesses and companies, we will make the tournament great and increase the cash prize for individual winners and champions in the various categories of the Country Meet,” Minister Quimie said.
According to him, the County Meet started on time during the last edition without delay like in past editions because of the support for all the sponsors.
In their separate remarks, the CEO of Liberia International Ship and Corporate Registry (LISCR) Mr. Abraham Avi Zaidenberg expressed his happiness for being a part of history making.
For his part, the CEO of ArcelorMittal Mr. Mahamar Haidara expressed his joy for the way the tournament was nicely organised and executed by the Organisers and promised that ArcelorMittal will be a part of the 2022 – 2023 National County Sports Meet.
Mr. Haidara then urged the Organising Committee to reach out to other corporate entities to solicit their support. He lauded the Organising Committee for the excellent organisation of 2021 – 2022 National County Sports Meet which he described as the best.
