Africa-Press – Liberia. The National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) has announced that it is taking steps to enhance control and prevention measures for public health threats during the upcoming electoral period. As part of its efforts, the National Public Health Emergency Call Center will be implementing a Special Public Health Emergency Operation.
The primary objective of this operation, a NPHIL statement released on Thursday, October 5, is to ensure an effective and coordinated response to any public health inquiries or emergencies that may arise during the election period. These measures will specifically target the general public, electoral authorities, and various stakeholders, all with the aim of efficiently addressing public health concerns.
To facilitate this process, the NPHIL announced in its release that the Emergency Line (4455) will continue to operate around the clock, as it usually does. It will be staffed by a dedicated team of skilled operators and supervisors, with technical support personnel available at the call center, which is located at the National Public Health Institute of Liberia.
“Beginning on the 8th of October 2023, and throughout the election period, this team will be ready to respond to any election-related emergencies,” the statement revealed. “These emergencies may include incidents of violence, accidents, medical emergencies, or security concerns reported by the public. The goal is to ensure a prompt and appropriate response to protect public health.”
In light of these preparations, NPHIL is therefore urging the public to utilize the 4455 emergency lines responsibly. By doing so, individuals can play their part in helping to maintain a safe and healthy environment during this crucial time in Liberia’s electoral process.
