Africa-PressLiberia. Health authorities in Liberia have expressed concern over the low uptake of Covid-19 vaccines among women. Liberia’s head of immunization, Adolphus Clarke, told the BBC that they would investigate the reasons for the gender disparity.

“To date we realise that of the 16,821 persons that have been vaccinated with the Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine, 11,098 are male and 5,723 are female,” he said.

He said they noticed the same difference in those vaccinated by the AstraZeneca vaccines. On Thursday, Liberia Health Minister Wilhelmina Jallah announced she was seeing some success in the fight against Covid. She told a news conference that treatment centres only had “a few patients” who were set to be discharged.
