Africa-Press – Liberia. After almost twenty years away from international competition, Liberia will once again be represented on the tennis court.

Liberia Under-12 National Tennis Team has departed for Accra, Ghana to compete in the 2025 West Africa Junior Championship.

The four-member delegation, led by Head Coach Winston W. Wreh, includes players Standella T. Kaloko, Nyemade Tweah, and Adrial Desire Freeman. The tournament, which runs from September 15–19, is expected to feature some of the brightest young talents from across West Africa.

Liberia’s absence from the international tennis scene was due to leadership crises and years of non-recognition by global tennis bodies over governance irregularities at the Liberia Tennis Federation (LTF).

But with the election of Paul Jamal King as president, the federation has moved to restore stability and credibility.

The LTF new leadership reforms paved the way for the International Tennis Federation (ITF) to reinstate Liberia’s membership, opening doors for re-engagement on the international stage.

For the LTF, Liberia’s presence in Accra is about more than competition it is about rebuilding a culture of tennis from the grassroots to the national level.

Officials believe the exposure will inspire more young players to take up the sport and mark the beginning of a sustained return to regional and international events.
