Liberia: World Wide Mission High School Wins ‘LMLG’ Football Tournament

Africa-Press – Liberia. The inaugural edition of the “Let’s Make Liberia Great” (LMLG) football tournament, organized by BlueCrest University, has officially ended, with World Wide Mission School emerging as champions.

In the championship game at Invincible Sports Park, World Wide defeated William V.S. Tubman High School 4-0.

The competition is a part of BlueCrest’s corporate social responsibility program, which aims to support the neighborhood. There were 16 participating teams from the counties of Montserrado and Margibi.

D. Zoegar Wilson, the minister of youth and sports, gave remarks as a special guest at the tournament’s closing ceremony. He thanked BlueCrest University for setting up the competition so that gifted Liberian students could show off their skills.

Minister Wilson reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to working with the university to advance the nation’s youth development.

The inter-school football tournament will be held yearly, according to Dr. Umesh Neelakantan, president of BlueCrest University, with more teams expected to compete in future competitions.

Dr. Neelakantan thanked the tournament’s chief coordinator, Abhishek Tiwari, and his crew for a job well done.

As the competition’s winners, World Wide Mission School received US$2,000 from Lucky Pharmacy, while William V.S. Tubman High School placed second and received US$1,000. Supreme Mattress, another sponsor, contributed the sum.

Other award winners include Boimah Harris, Best Coach (World Wide Mission School), who walked away with US$100 provided by Africa Trading Company, and Tonny J. Zortiah (Bethlehem High School), who won the Golden Boot provided by Pee Kay Enterprises.

Ousman Bah of World Wide Mission High School won a flat-screen TV from Raj Enterprises as the best goalkeeper of the tournament.

The tournament was inaugurated on November 1 by Mr. Pradeep Kumar Yadav, Indian Ambassador to Liberia.

Additionally, it is being set up with the intention of integrating its objectives with the PAPD (Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development) of the Liberian government.
