Liberian Star Saah Moses Jr. Signs With Hammarby

Africa-Press – Liberia. As part of the agreement, Moses will be immediately loaned to Hammarby Talangfotboll förening (HTFF), Hammarby’s affiliated development team, which competes in Ettan Norra, the third tier of Swedish football.

Former Liberia U-17 Midfielder Saah Moses Jr. has completed a transfer to Swedish Top-Flight Club Hammarby IF in a deal reportedly valued at approximately US$150,000.

The 18-year-old, joining from Liberia’s top flight club Discoveries Football Club, has signed a four-year contract that extends through the 2029 season, Hammarby announced Wednesday.

As part of the agreement, Moses will be immediately loaned to Hammarby Talangfotboll förening (HTFF), Hammarby’s affiliated development team, which competes in Ettan Norra, the third tier of Swedish football.

Hammarby stated the loan would provide the Liberian midfielder “ample time to adapt to life in Sweden and grow within the Hammarby System.”

From Grassroots to European Opportunity

Moses’s journey began at Discoveries FC, a club that has evolved from a community-level initiative into one of Liberia’s top-flight teams.

His transfer marks a significant milestone for both the player and the club.

Discoveries FC confirmed his departure by re-sharing Hammarby’s announcement, adding a tribute that included his nickname among teammates and supporters.

A Product of National Youth Development

Moses gained national prominence as part of Ansu Keita’s U-17 National Team, which toured Austria in 2022. He was a consistent and highly-rated performer during that tour, alongside fellow standout Alhaji Samukai.

While Keita is no longer coaching the national team, his influence on youth talent development in Liberia remains evident, with Moses being the latest to benefit.

Second Liberian Talent Joins Hammarby

Moses follows Divine Teah, who joined Hammarby in 2024 for €115,000 and was subsequently sold less than a year later to Czech giants Slavia Prague for a reported €3.5 million. Moses will now aim to replicate this trajectory, beginning his European career with HTFF, who currently lead the Ettan Norra standings.

“We’ve been monitoring Saah closely and believe he has the qualities to succeed in our environment,” said Hammarby Sporting Director Mikael Hjelmberg. “HTFF will give him the right platform to adjust, grow, and compete.”

Boost for Liberian Football Development

The reported $150,000 transfer fee not only highlights Moses’s potential but also represents a financial boost for Discoveries FC. His move is being seen as a positive development for Liberian football, signifying increased global recognition for the nation’s domestic clubs and highlighting the potential that consistent development and international exposure can offer.
