Africa-Press – Liberia. On Saturday, January 31, the grandeur of the Abuja Continental Hotel provided a fitting backdrop as distinguished leaders, diplomats, and policymakers gathered for the 7th ‘OurNigeria News Magazine Awards’. Among the evening’s most celebrated honorees was Liberia’s Ambassador-at-Large for Special Duties and Special Presidential Envoy, H.E. Sheikh Al-Moustapha Kouyateh, who received the Pan African Diplomatic Excellence Award for Peace and Strategic Engagement. The prestigious event drew an audience of high-ranking government officials, diplomats, policymakers, and influential personalities from across Africa and beyond.
The award, presented by Our Nigeria News Magazine, recognized Ambassador Kouyateh’s remarkable contributions to diplomacy, peace-building, and strategic engagement across the continent. In his acceptance remarks, Ambassador Kouyateh described the honor as a meaningful acknowledgment of his lifelong commitment to advancing peace and cooperation in Africa.
He expressed gratitude to the management and editorial board of ‘OurNigeria News’, noting that the diversity of award recipients underscored the magazine’s growing continental relevance. “OurNigeria News is more than a publication; it is a message of hope reminding Africans of their responsibilities to their countries and the continent at large,” he said, emphasizing Africa’s wealth of human and natural resources and the urgent need to harness them effectively for sustainable development.
His honor stood out as a testament to Liberia’s growing influence in continental affairs and his personal stature as a respected voice in African diplomacy. For Liberia, Kouyateh’s award is more than a personal achievement; it symbolizes the country’s expanding diplomatic footprint and its role in shaping Africa’s future.
Kouyateh’s honor highlights the growing importance of strategic engagement in addressing the continent’s challenges and opportunities, while reinforcing OurNigeria News Magazine’s reputation as a credible institution dedicated to celebrating leadership, peace, and development.
Ambassador Kouyateh is the only non-Nigerian who was honored. The award had originally been designed exclusively for Nigerians, but based on his exceptional work across the continent, no one else could match his contribution to Pan-African Diplomatic Excellence in strategic engagement.
Dr. AK Peters, Chairman of the Editorial Board, explained that the awards were instituted to spotlight Africans whose leadership and service have made measurable impacts in nation-building. He highlighted the 2025 awards theme, “Providing a Podium for the Unsung Hero,” as a reflection of the magazine’s mission to celebrate individuals whose contributions often go unnoticed.
He received the award alongside other distinguished leaders, including Nigeria’s Defense Minister General Christopher Musa and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara. His recognition not only reinforces Liberia’s growing diplomatic outreach but also affirms OurNigeria News Magazine’s integrity as a credible platform for honoring excellence across Africa.
