Africa-Press – Liberia. Monrovia — Liberia National Handball Association (LNHA) Back to School tournament got underway over the weekend at the open Air Sports Commission on Broad Street.

The association’s Secretary-General told FrontPage Africa that the tournament will be played among 16 schools, including both elementary and junior high schools. He disclosed that all tournament games are expected to be played at the open Air Sports Commission on Broad Street.

Haji Musa Seysey revealed that they anticipated over 60 schools to participate in the ongoing tournament.

Seysey emphasized that this ongoing league is the second in succession, with the first league played in 2023 across four different zones in Monrovia, Montserrado County. However, this year’s tournament games will only be played at the open Air Sports Commission on Broad Street.

He described the response from the 16 teams during the registration process as encouraging and hoped that they would continue participating until the league ends.

Seysey stated, “We intend to have our ongoing 2024 Back to School tournament in the same four zones as the 2023 tournament. However, due to the jamming of the academic calendar, we have all agreed for the league to be held at the Sports Commission. I’m calling on school officials to ensure that their teams follow the tournament game fixtures and that their athletes adhere to the rules governing the tournament.”
