Africa-Press – Liberia. The Plenary of the House of Representatives has reluctantly pardoned Mary Broh, the Chairperson of the Citizens Engagement Board (CEB) following an apology from the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC).
The MCC apology came after Broh refused to appear before the House to address allegations of abuse of power, but opted to lead an army of ‘sanitation soldiers’ to protest an invitation, which intended to probe her over allegations of abuse of power.
The MCC believes that Broh’s action was “disrespectful and arrogant” and obstructed the work of the House of Representatives.

Gowned in traditional Kru attire, the General Services Agency (GSA) Director-General and a crew of 30 cleaners, in signing songs calling for the first branch of government to be clean and giving a facelift. “Clean your place, clean your offices, clean your bathrooms…,” they sang and danced.
But while the House expressed disappointments over the ‘insults’, they reluctantly agreed to accept the apology. However, the House agreed to work with Broh and the CEB work to clean the City of Monrovia for Liberia’s Bicentennial celebration, which begins this December, marking 200 years since the first slaves lending in Liberia in 1821.
Madam Broh has also been cautioned to transmit a medical report to the Office of the Chief Clerk to confirm her illness by next week and should also submit a comprehensive report to the leadership of the House of Representatives on the destruction of properties including bananas and plantains, worth about L$4.7 million.
The MCC apology for Broh’s “disrespectful and arrogant” behavior as well as for the act of obstructing the work of the House of Representatives.
Also, Liberia’s Culture Ambassador, Juli Endee Tarpeh, the co-chair of the CEB, apologized, on behalf of the CEB, and in her name. She was flanked by members of the CEB, including Chief Imam Ali Krayee, Thomas Doe Nah of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), and others; while the employer of the CEB, Mayor Jefferson Koijee of MCC also apologized.
Meanwhile, The CEB chair had informed the House that due to illness, she was not in the position to respond to complaints filed by Montserrado County District # 7, Rep. Solomon C. George, who alleged that members of the CEB are in the habit of destroying properties and other rights violations.
