According to a press release, the MoU marks a major step in strengthening international academic cooperation, improving higher education in Liberia, and providing new opportunities for students and faculty to study, teach, and conduct research across borders.

The partnership seeks to build mutually beneficial academic and educational programs between the Parties. It will support faculty and student exchanges, study-abroad opportunities, joint research, seminars, and workshops.

Importantly, the MoU also includes a special tuition discount for Liberian students who enroll in Chicago State University’s online programs in Public Health, Health Information Administration, and Computer Science, with future programs planned in Business and Education.

This collaboration supports Liberia’s goal of building a strong and modern education system that prepares young people for global competitiveness.

The Academic Consortium of Liberian Universities, comprising the University of Liberia, Tubman University, Cuttington University, Nimba University, Lofa County University, Margibi University, and Liberia International Christian College, will serve as the main coordinating body for implementation under the guidance of the Ministry of Education.

At today’s ceremony, Mr. Nyekeh Forkpa, Deputy Minister for Administration at the Ministry of Education, will sign on behalf of the Government of Liberia, alongside Deputy Minister for Economic Management, Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, Dehpue Y. Zuo, while Dr. Zaldwaynaka Scott, J.D., President of Chicago State University, and Dr. Sonja Feist-Price, Provost and Senior Vice President, will sign on behalf of CSU.

The event will symbolize a shared commitment to advancing education, technology, and research between Liberia and the United States.

This partnership is a forward-looking initiative aimed at empowering Liberian universities, expanding digital education, and building stronger academic ties that will benefit students and faculty in both countries for years to come.
