Africa-Press – Liberia. Lonestar Cell MTN has officially launched the MTN Student Café at the African Methodist Episcopal University (AMEU) in Monrovia, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to empowering Liberia’s youth through digital inclusion.

The launch event, which was Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at the university, was attended by senior leadership from MTN — including CEO, Mr. Rahul De, and CMO, Mr. Rohit Narayan, as well as the President of AMEU, the Vice President of the university, Mr. Nathaniel Cisco (Assistant Minister for Technical Vocational Education, STEM, and Inclusive Education at the Ministry of Education) representing the Ministry of Education, and Priscilla Warui of UN Women.

According to Lonestar Cell, the MTN Student Café is designed to serve as a resource centre for students, providing access to reliable connectivity, digital learning tools, collaborative spaces, and mentorship opportunities. It aligns with MTN’s broader vision of creating environments where students can thrive both academically and digitally.

The innovation supports Liberia’s national agenda of digital transformation and reflects MTN’s ongoing effort to bridge the digital divide across the country.

As part of its long-term vision, MTN plans to leave lasting digital footprints across Liberia’s tertiary institutions, with AMEU being the first to host this initiative.

By establishing these hubs in universities nationwide, MTN aims to ensure that students everywhere can benefit from enhanced access to technology, knowledge, and opportunities that foster global competitiveness.

The Student Café serves as a youth-focused digital hub where innovation, learning, collaboration, and connectivity converge. It offers students a space to engage with technology, co-create solutions, undertake group studies, and participate in digitally enabled learning, enriching their academic experience and developing skills for the future.

In its support of the national digital transformation drive, MTN remains committed to youth empowerment, sustainable development, and inclusive education.

The debut of this space at AMEU is part of MTN’s continuous effort to deliver on its promise of digital inclusion and to equip Liberia’s next generation of leaders to compete on a global stage.
