Nimba Representative Launches Road Rehab and Infrastructure

Africa-Press – Liberia. Representative Kortor Kwagrue of Nimba County’s District #5 has launched a major road rehabilitation project across several towns and villages, bringing much-needed relief to residents long plagued by poor infrastructure.

The farm-to-market road initiative targets the rugged terrains of Buutuo and surrounding areas, where muddy, pothole-riddled paths have for years isolated farmers from markets, forcing them to haul produce on foot or dilapidated vehicles during the rainy season.

‘‘This project will slash travel times, boost crop sales, and end the continuous suffering our people endure,” Rep. Kwagrue stated during a recent groundbreaking ceremony attended by hundreds of cheering locals.

Rep. Kwagrue, widely praised for his hands-on approach to development, has earned accolades from constituents for prior efforts like school renovations and water projects.

Now, he’s expanding into Nyor Chiefdom, Yao, Wea and Nekwah Chiefdoms—remote areas dotted with lush rubber plantations and cocoa farms that form the economic backbone of eastern Nimba.

These initiatives aim to foster sustainable growth not just in the district, but across Nimba County and Liberia as a whole.

To kickstart the work, the representative donated essential building materials, including bags of cement, bundles of zinc roofing sheets, and tools for road grading.

“We’re building for the future strong roads mean strong communities,” he emphasized, as workers began clearing debris and leveling earth under the watchful eyes of pledged youth volunteers.

Dozens of young people from District #5, many unemployed farmers’ sons and daughters, have rallied behind Rep. Kwagrue, forming labor brigades to contribute manpower.

‘‘He’s not just talking development; he’s delivering it,” said one volunteer, 24- year-old Marcus Toe from Buutuo.

“We’ll keep supporting him to transform our district.”

Local leaders hailed the move as a model for representative-led progress amid Liberia’s ongoing infrastructure challenges.

With the project slated for completion by the dry season’s end, residents anticipate easier access to healthcare, schools and trade routes paving the way for economic revival in this vital agricultural hub.
