Africa-Press – Liberia. The National Lottery Authority (NLA) under the leadership of Peter L. Solo as Director General has taken a significant step in supporting youth empowerment and education by purchasing and presenting a plane ticket to Harris N.K. Mulbah, an orphan who has been granted the opportunity to pursue higher education in the People’s Republic of China.
The symbolic presentation was made by the Deputy Director General for Administration, Ennish L. Fahnbulleh, at the NLA Headquarters on Friday, October 10, 2025.
Speaking during the brief, but meaningful ceremony, Mr. Fahnbulleh described the gesture as part of the NLA’s broader commitment to its corporate social responsibility and national development.
“We are proud to support young Liberians who are determined to improve themselves through education, Harris’s story is one of perseverance and hope, and we believe that by investing in his future, we are also investing in the future of Liberia,” Mr. Fahnbulleh said.
Harris N.K. Mulbah, visibly emotional, expressed deep gratitude to the NLA Management for the timely support. He shared that securing the ticket was one of the final challenges he faced before traveling to China to begin his studies, and the NLA’s intervention has brought him one step closer to his dreams.
“I am truly thankful to the National Lottery Authority for this life-changing support, this opportunity means the world to me, and I promise to make Liberia proud,” Mr. Mulbah stated.
Mr. Mulbah also promised to make best use of the opportunity provided him and hopes to significantly contribute to the process of the NLA following the completion of his study journey in China in the future.
The NLA has in recent years increased its focus on education and youth development initiatives, seeing them as critical to national progress.
The organization continues to demonstrate its role not just as a revenue-generating entity, but as a key stakeholder in Liberia’s socio-economic development which align with the ARREST Agenda for inclusive Development (AAID).
Mr. Mulbah is expected to depart for China in the coming days to begin his academic journey, joining a growing number of Liberian students pursuing studies abroad through scholarships and international partnerships.
