Africa-Press – Liberia. Quality health care delivery continues to be the dream and desire of health providers and citizens here.

In a groundbreaking milestone for healthcare in Panta District, Dr. Alphanso Paye, a native of the region, officially dedicated the Gala fe Nii International Modern Clinic—the first state-of-the-art medical facility in the district’s history.

The dedication ceremony, held in Gowayen Town, drew community members from all corners of the district. Speaking to reporters during the event, Dr. Paye underscored the significance of the clinic in transforming access to healthcare services for rural residents.

“This clinic represents hope for our people,” Dr. Paye stated. “It is fully equipped with a modern laboratory, trained staff, an Outpatient Department (OPD), emergency services, and a maternity waiting home to cater to pregnant women. For the first time, residents no longer have to travel to Gbarnga for basic medical care.”

A key highlight of the facility is its commitment to providing free medical services to children aged 0–5 years, a bold initiative aimed at reducing child mortality and enhancing early childhood health in the district.

Dr. Paye, who personally spearheaded the project, expressed deep appreciation to the residents of Gowayen Town and neighboring communities for their unwavering support throughout the construction phase, despite financial and logistical hurdles.

“The community stood by this vision even when things got tough. Their encouragement made this possible,” he noted.

The clinic is currently staffed with a team of professional healthcare providers, including experienced laboratory technicians and healthcare administrators, poised to deliver quality and compassionate care.

However, Dr. Paye did not hide his disappointment over the absence of officials from the Bong County Health administration and local county leadership, who he said were invited but failed to attend the event.

“This should have been a moment of unity and celebration for all leaders committed to improving health outcomes in Bong County,” he lamented.

The ceremony was attended by local leaders, traditional elders, youth representatives, and women’s groups, all of whom hailed Dr. Paye’s dedication and selflessness. Many described the clinic as a “lifesaver” and a critical infrastructure that had long been needed in the district.

The Gala fe Nii International Modern Clinic is expected to significantly ease the burden on families who previously had to travel long distances for healthcare services, often at great personal and financial cost.

As the region embraces this new chapter, Dr. Paye is calling on the national government and Bong County authorities to support the facility’s operations and ensure its sustainability, emphasizing that partnerships are key to maintaining and expanding healthcare delivery in underserved areas.

The establishment of this clinic marks a historic turning point for Panta District, setting a new standard for rural healthcare development in Liberia.
