Africa-Press – Liberia. The opposition Liberty Party has announced a monthly US25,000 scholarship scheme for its youths.
Senate Pro-temp, Grand Bassa County Senator- Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence has launched USD$ 25,000 Scholarship Scheme to support youths of her Liberty Party.
Speaking during an interactive dialogue on the sidelines of the Liberty 20th Anniversary, held in Congo Town, Senator Lawrence said the initiative is to build the capacity of youth, who are the future of the party.
“The Liberty Party Youth Congress is the pillar of Interest for our party, because the future of the party is the youth. And it is time we prepare our young people for tomorrow, and succession planning is important,” Senator Lawrence said.

“We must take care of the youth wings and in so doing, what we are launching is going to be monthly, to support the youths,” she added.
And I’m standing here today to launch a scholarship program of $25,000 USD to educate our people for the next four years, Senator Lawrence said.
The scheme, according to Pro-temp Karnga-Lawrence will be supervised through the office of Montserrado County Senator Darius Dillon.
“I will invest 5,000, initially and what we are launching is monthly and under the wings of Senator Dillion, to empower our young people, and on your next dialogue, we want to see a thousand youth,” Senator Lawrence added.
For his part, Senator Abe Darius Dillon, delivering his keynote address, promised to mold the minds of the young people who will serve as the proper representation of the new Liberty Party.
He said young people are not to be used for battle cries for politicians, but they should also form part of the national decision making process not just during electioneering period.
Sen. Dillion also assured that the scholarship schemes will identify with deserving and capable youth, void of favoritism.
“This Scholarship will be void of favoritism but will endure the benefits of the majority of our youth, through the youth wings,” he said.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the National Youth Congress of the Liberty Party, Othello Garpue, thanked Senator Lawrence for the scholarship scheme to empower the party youths.
“We are truly honored to have you as our leaders and mentors. Your dedication, vision, and unwavering support continue to inspire and guide us,” Garpue said.
“Thank you, for your commitment to youth development and for believing in the power of young people. Together, we will continue to uphold the values and legacy of the Liberty Party, Garpue added.
