The directive is intended to support local artisans and designers by encouraging the use of traditional Liberian fabrics such as lena, kpla, and country cloth.

According to a Ministry of Information release, Senate Pro Tempore Lawrence stated that the move is expected not only to promote Liberian culture but also to contribute to the country’s economic growth. She emphasized the importance of supporting local industries and noted that the decision aligns with the Senate’s ongoing commitment to promoting Liberian-made products.

Lawrence added that the initiative is likely to be welcomed by local designers and artisans and to provide a significant boost to their businesses.
