Africa-Press – Liberia. The arrival of the controversial lawmaker in Maryland County was met with a spirited welcome.
Montserrado County District #10 Representative Yekeh Kolubah has commenced a political tour across southeastern Liberia, beginning shortly after the reburial and burial of former Liberian President Samuel K. Doe and former First Lady Nancy B. Doe on Friday, June 27, 2025, in Zwedru City, Grand Gedeh County.
On Saturday, June 28, Rep. Kolubah continued his tour with a stop in River Gee County, where he held meetings with local supporters before heading to Maryland County later that evening.
The arrival of the controversial lawmaker in Maryland County was met with a spirited welcome. Excited citizens gathered in large numbers, chanting slogans such as, “Welcome Yekeh,” and “Your leave us ooo, da Yekeh we want.”
During an interview with journalists at the St. Francis Sports Pitch in Pleebo on Sunday where he had gone to interact with supporters, Rep. Kolubah disclosed that his tour is focused on gathering information to hold the current government accountable.
“This visit is to collect facts and track the downfall of the Joseph Boakai administration,” Kolubah stated.
The lawmaker further urged south-easterners to maintain their political loyalty to former President George Weah and avoid internal opposition conflicts. He called for unity among opposition parties to reclaim power from the ruling Unity Party in the 2029 elections.
“If we really reunite as opposition, Boakai will fall,” Rep. Kolubah asserted.
In a scathing critique of fellow lawmakers from the Southeast, Rep. Kolubah described them as “bodyguards” to President Boakai, accusing them of blindly supporting the administration, particularly in the removal of Speaker Fonati Koffa.
“Almost all of them supported the removal of Fonati Koffa as Speaker, and now they follow the president everywhere like his security,” he said.
Rep. Kolubah’s tour continues, with his next stop in Grand Kru County, where he departed on Sunday afternoon.
