Africa-Press – Liberia. Renovation work on the Tomah Seh Floyd, Sr. (TSFS) Stadium in Sanniquelle has accelerated significantly. Project managers and county authorities are optimistic that the facility could be ready in time for this year’s National County Sports Meet, which is scheduled for December.
Nimba is confirmed as one of the host counties for the national sporting event, making the timely completion of the stadium a critical priority.
Over the past weeks, engineers have confirmed the full completion and stabilization of the subbase layer, a foundational component of any modern football pitch.
The inner perimeter fencing, which will provide secure barriers during matches and major events, has also been successfully installed.
With these essential phases complete, the project is moving toward its final and most visible stage: the installation of the new, modern playing turf. Officials say the turf installation will begin “shortly,” as the county steps up efforts to meet the County Meet deadline.
County Leadership Pushing Hard for December Readiness
Nimba County authorities have welcomed the rapid progress and declared the TSFS Stadium renovation a “top priority,”given the county’s confirmed role as a host venue this year.
Local officials note that completing the stadium before December is not only critical for the County Meet but is also symbolic of Nimba’s longstanding status as a powerhouse in Liberian football.
LFA, Jungle Water Group Drive Infrastructure Through PPP
The ongoing renovation is funded through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) between the Liberia Football Association (LFA) and the Jungle Water Group of Companies. The project forms a core component of the LFA’s broader strategy to modernize football infrastructure and expand community access to quality sports facilities.
LFA President Mustapha Raji has repeatedly emphasized the importance of upgrading county-level stadiums, arguing that Liberia’s football future depends greatly on improved grassroots facilities.
The TSFS Stadium renovation stands as a key example of the LFA’s decentralization push—acknowledging that world-class talent often emerges from regions outside Monrovia, particularly traditional football strongholds like Nimba.
Across Sanniquelle and surrounding communities, anticipation is building as visible changes begin to transform the stadium’s appearance.
Residents have described the renovation as long overdue and vital for football development in the county.
Local athletes and youth groups say the upgraded facility will provide much-needed opportunities for training, competitions, and events that previously required travel to other countries.
A Race Against Time—But Confidence Remains High
Although time is limited, engineers and county leaders maintain confidence that the project is on course. The completion of the subbase and perimeter fencing marks the resolution of two of the most technically demanding components.
The final stage, the laying of the artificial turf, will determine whether the December target can be met.
County authorities, the LFA, and the Jungle Water Group are expected to intensify coordination over the coming weeks to ensure no delays hinder the project’s delivery.
Once completed, the TSFS Stadium is expected to become a premier regional venue, hosting league games, youth programs, school tournaments, and national sporting activities.
For Nimba County, home to some of Liberia’s most passionate football supporters, the stadium’s reopening will symbolize a new era of infrastructure-driven development.
As December approaches, the eyes of the county and much of the nation will be fixed on Sanniquellie, waiting to see the stadium come alive in time to welcome athletes and fans for the 2025/2026 National County Sports Meet.
