Africa-Press – Liberia. Eight teams will compete in the tournament, marking the first edition of what is expected to become an annual fixture.
The much-anticipated SEBA Invitational Football Tournament, hosted by the Senior Brother Association (SEBA), is set to begin on Saturday, March 15, 2025.
The two-day event, organized by teams within the Liberian Old Timers National Association (LONA), will take place at the Kollie FC field in the Dry Rice Market community of Barnersville.
Eight teams will compete in the tournament, marking the first edition of what is expected to become an annual fixture. The participating teams are: host SEBA, Stephen Tolbert, Snow Hill, Genesis, 72nd, New Georgia, Barnersville, and Omega.
In an interview with FrontPage Africa, SEBA President-elect Acquay V. Kamara urged all teams to take the competition seriously, noting that the tournament will be an annual event organized by SEBA.
“This is our first time hosting the LONA Annual Invitational Tournament. By law, each registered Old Timers team must host during their term, and this is our term,” Kamara said.
He also emphasized the importance of sportsmanship, encouraging players to treat each other as brothers rather than rivals. Kamara reminded all teams to show respect for match officials, including referees.
The tournament will run from March 15-16, 2025, with winners set to receive a large trophy and a cash prize, though the exact amount of the cash prize has not been disclosed. Kamara assured that each team would receive a certificate of participation.
