Senator Darius Dillon Unable to File US$2m Appearance Bond; Promises to be Present in Court Daily

Africa-Press – Liberia. Montserrado County Senator Abraham Darius Dillon will have to appear at the Civil Law Court daily, after failing to provide a bond as being ordered by the court.

Senator Dillon was sued at the Civil Law Court by Liberty Party Chairman Musa Hassan Bility with an attachment, compelling him to file an indemnity bond of Two Million United States Dollars (US$2,000,000) to prevent his incarceration at the Monrovia Central Prison.

Cllr. Arthur Johnson who represents Mr. Bility had applied for arrest order to compel Senator Dillon’s appearance in Court for litigation consistent with the law.

Cllr. Arthur Johnson’s application was triggered by court officers’ returns to the Court that they were finding it difficult to locate Senator Dillon since Liberty Party Chairman, Musa Bility instituted the One Million the United States Dollars action of damage suit against him on January 26, 2022.

Senator Dillon’s delay was reportedly due to his inability to acquire his indemnity bond of Two Million United States Dollars to prevent his incarceration at the Monrovia Central Prison.

Nevertheless, Dillon surrendered himself on Monday following Cllr. Johnson’s application to have him arrested. However, he could not provide a said bond, this compelled the Montserrado County Lawmaker to be subjected to a promissory document at the court.

According to the court document, signed by Dillon’s Lawyer, Cllr. Augustine Fayiah, the lawmaker will have to appear in person daily, until he can file a valid bond for the action of Libel and Slander by Attachment filed by the Plaintiff, Musa Hassan Bility.

He is to be at the court at 10:30 am and shall constitute sufficient legal authority for the court to proceed against the defendant, Dillon, should there be any lack of compliance on his part and surety. The promissory note reads:

“I, Cllr. Augustine C. Fayiah does hereby promise to ensure that Senator Abraham Darius Dillon, Senator of Montserrado County shall appear or cause to appear to the Civil Law Court, Sixth Judicial Circuit for Montserrado County on daily basis at the hours of 10:30 a.m., before His Honor J. Kennedy Peabody, Resident/Assigned Circuit Judge of the Civil Law Court until the Defendant, Senator Dillon can file a valid bond in response to an Action of Damages for Wrong for Libel and Slander by Attachment filed by the Plaintiff, Musa Hassan Bility.

“For so doing, this shall constitute the sufficient legal authority for the court to proceed against the defendant, Dillon, should there be any lack of compliance on his part and surety.”

Bility on Wednesday, January 26, filed a US$ one million lawsuit against Montserrado County Senator Abraham Darius Dillon on allegations of calling him, a “criminal and fraudster.”

The suit was filed at Civil Law Court at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia by Cllr. Arthur Johnson. Cllr. Johnson told Judicial reporters that Senator Dillion’s action amounts to damages for libel and slander by attachment.
