Africa-Press – Liberia. Senator James Emmanuel Nuquay has called on women in Margibi County to stand together, support one another, and actively seek leadership roles across various sectors.
Delivering the keynote address at the weekend induction ceremony of the Margibi Women Alliance for Peace and Development (MARWAPD) in Kakata, the senator encouraged the newly inducted members to step forward with confidence and lead with purpose.
Addressing attendees under the theme “Unleashing Your Potential and Building Consensus for Future Leadership Roles,” Senator Nuquay acknowledged the women’s long-standing support of his political journey and expressed his ongoing commitment to their empowerment.
“You have always stood by me, and I will always stand by you. Whenever you call on me, I will be there,” he assured.
He emphasized that women’s full inclusion in leadership is critical for national progress and pointed to the groundbreaking contributions of former President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf and former Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor as evidence of what is possible when women lead.
“These women opened the political space for others. Their legacy shows that women must be active participants in leadership at all levels,” Nuquay said.
He urged MARWAPD members to strengthen their unity and extend empowerment efforts across all communities in Margibi County. He highlighted the need for training and self-reliance programs, calling them essential tools for lasting change.
“Supporting women is not a vanity project—it is urgent and necessary,” he noted.
Senator Nuquay also emphasized the value of inclusive leadership, stressing that unity should embrace diversity of thought. “Unity does not mean uniformity; it means inclusion,” he said.
In ending his remarks, the senator reminded the women of their collective strength, saying their presence at the event was proof of their power to lead and inspire transformation.
