House Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon has commenced an official outreach tour of Liberia’s southeastern region, reaffirming his commitment to inclusive governance and people-centered leadership.
Speaking to a team of reporters at his Capitol Building office on Tuesday, December 16, the Director of Press of the House of Representatives, Robert Haynes, said Speaker Koon emphasized that as Speaker of the Republic, it is his responsibility to engage citizens across the country and understand firsthand issues that directly affect their lives.
He noted that governance must remain connected to the people, adding that what is happening with the people matters.
Director Haynes added that during the tour, the Speaker will hold town hall meetings with local county authorities, community leaders, and ordinary citizens to listen to their concerns, exchange views, and strengthen legislative engagement at the grassroots level.
“The first phase of the southeastern tour will cover Grand Gedeh County, RiverGee County, and Maryland County.”
He said following the southeastern engagement, Speaker Koon is also expected to join the Chief Executive President Joseph N. Boakai Sr, in Lofa County on December 23 to celebrate the festive season with the people of Lofa. The outreach tour underscores the Speaker’s dedication to national unity, accountability, and bringing the work of the Legislature closer to the people of Liberia
