Africa-Press – Liberia. Suspended Acting Chairperson of the Liberia Telecommunications Authority Abdullah L. Kamara, says the dismissal of all criminal charges against him by Criminal Court “C” has restored his rights, integrity, and public trust, describing the ruling as a victory for truth and the rule of law.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Kamara expressed “profound gratitude” to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for suspending him during the investigation — a move he described as “difficult but necessary” to allow the justice system to work without interference.
“I stood, I faced the accusations head-on, and I trusted the process. Today, I am vindicated,” Kamara declared, adding that his suspension should set “a new bar” for accountability, where no official is above the law.
Kamara was charged by the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) in 2024 over allegations he says were first made on Facebook, sparking reputational and financial losses, including the withdrawal of international support from his vocational school.
While commending the LACC’s role in fighting corruption, Kamara cautioned graft institutions to conduct evidence-based, politically neutral investigations, warning that “missteps not only harm innocent people but can weaken public confidence.” He also criticized sections of the Liberian media for what he described as sensational, unverified reporting that can “build or destroy lives.”
The embattled LTA boss recounted a string of achievements during his one-year tenure as Acting Chair, including resolving the price floor dispute in the telecom sector, advancing construction of the LTA’s first headquarters to 70% completion, spearheading digital transformation projects, hosting Liberia’s first DIGITECH EXPO, and launching initiatives to train 10,000 youth in digital skills.
Kamara, who has over 35 years of experience in ICT and telecommunications, reiterated his commitment to building a secure national data backbone, promoting local participation in the lucrative tech sector, and empowering youth for the digital future.
“This moment is not just about my personal vindication,” he said. “It is about reaffirming our belief in truth, justice, and the enduring value of public trust. To every young leader watching today, remember this: your integrity is your armor. Never take it off.”
