Africa-Press – Liberia. Teach Liberia, a local component of Teach International has signed a memorandum of understanding with the office of Nimba County District Number Nine, aimed at enhancing educational equity in that part of the country.
The agreement is a part of Teach Liberia’s move to strengthen the educational sector of the country.
The MOU was signed between Teach For Liberia and Nimba County District Number Nine Representative Taa Wongbe on Thursday, May 16, in Monrovia.
The Partnership will see Teach For Liberia Train all Teachers within Electoral District-9 Nimba County.
Addressing Reporters at the Signing Ceremony Representative Wongbe expressed excitement over the initiative, adding that the MOU will see four (4) Fellows placed at two schools beginning next academic year.
He noted that the Memorandum of Understanding will allow all teachers within the District to be trained, describing it as a way of improving education in the District- –Nine, Nimba County.
Wongbe expressed excitement to have four Fellows placed at two high schools.
“Today District 9 of Nimba and Teach For Liberia formalized our partnership in the fight for education equity in Liberia,” Representative Wongbe averred.
“We have also partnered to bring the training of our teachers in the district.”
Also in remake at the Signing Ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of Teach For Liberia Alicia-Ann Ceasar lauded Wongbe for Signing what she called a great partnership which is geared at the fighting for quality education in District Nine, Nimba County.
Madam Caesar stressed that the MOU will pilot a Climate Education and Leadership curriculum in Kwendin Vocational School for a positive impact.
“We will pilot a Climate Education & Leadership curriculum in Kwendin at the vocational school and work with the Kwawaaluo Farmers Cooperative to make a positive impact over the next few years,” Madam Ceasar noted.

Meanwhile, Madam Caesar added that the training is targeting individuals who end their first degree in any discipline.
