Africa-Press – Liberia. The Center for African Policy (CAP) and Scholarly Path Executive Director, Wantoe T. Wantoe, has been selected to receive the prestigious Global Education Advocate Award at the Liberia National Academic Excellence Award 2023.
The highly anticipated award ceremony is set to take place this Sunday, December 10th, 2023, at the EJS Ministerial Complex theatre, starting at 4 pm with an exclusive Red Carpet event.Wantoe’s remarkable contributions to education, particularly his initiative of organizing a nationwide study abroad program for over five years, have earned him this distinguished recognition.
This program has not only expanded educational horizons but also played a pivotal role in fostering cross-cultural understanding, enriching perspectives, and promoting international collaboration.
The award committee commended Wantoe T. Wantoe for his commendable dedication to advancing global education, citing his influential role as a Trustee on the AFS Board of Trustees for a three-year term.
Currently serving as the sole African youth representative on the largest Intercultural program globally, Wantoe has showcased significant impact in the realm of global education.
Wantoe’s recognition as one of the 400 most impactful, influential students and staff in the 4000-year history of the University of Oxford Pembroke College further underscores his profound positive image and contribution to Liberia’s global education advancement.
Wantoe is a graduate of the University of Oxford with a Masters in Public Policy. He served as the 176th National Flag Day orator.
Wantoe’s unwavering dedication has garnered him numerous international accolades. He was recognized by Princess Diana and awarded at the 2017 Summer Youth Assembly by the Friendship Ambassador Foundation.
Wantoe is a certified 2019 Obama Foundation Leadership Asset and Dialogue Alumni, as well as a recipient of the 2019 Princess Diana Award. In 2018, he was honored as the Global Young Voices SDGs Champion Winner, and in 2020, he received the Friend of Humanity Distinguished Alumni Award at the Youth Assembly.
The College of Mount Saint Vincent also acknowledged his contributions to global enlightenment, student consciousness, and systemic change in June 2020, granting him the Vincent De-Paul Award. Further, he received the Frédéric Ozanam Award in 2021.
In June 2022, during the Africa Day celebrations at the United Nations Trustee Chambers, Wantoe was named one of eight ‘Young Pacesetters for African Development’ by the African Renaissance and Diaspora Network.
Currently, Wantoe serves as a Steering Member on the United Nations Department of Global Communication Youth Steering Committee, actively contributing to the development and implementation of global youth policies.
In addition, he has been appointed to the AFS Youth Assembly Advisory Council, leveraging his expertise to provide guidance on youth-related initiatives.
Hosted by Educate the NextGen, the Liberia National Academic Excellence Award has been a frontrunner in recognizing academic excellence since 2016.
Expanding its scope in 2022 to include the best students in various academic competitions across seven counties, this year’s event celebrates 125 students nationwide. The award ceremony not only honors academic achievement but also provides invaluable training in leadership, community service, digital literacy, and access to global opportunities.
The acknowledgment and acceptance of the Global Education Advocate Award by Wantoe are expected to serve as a source of immense inspiration for young minds, reaffirming his commitment to education as the driving force for Liberia’s future.
