Africa-Press – Liberia. League leaders Watanga FC extended their unbeaten run with a commanding 4–2 victory over Freeport FC.
Monrovia– The Liberia Football Association (LFA) First Division League continued to build momentum as Round Seven fixtures across the country produced a blend of drama, controversy, and statement performances that shaped the league table heading into the mid-season stretch.
Freeport FC 2–4 Watanga FC – Garmondeh Hat-Trick Fires Watanga Clear
The highlight of the round came at the Tusa Field in Monrovia, where league leaders Watanga FC extended their unbeaten run with a commanding 4–2 victory over Freeport FC.
Watanga’s attacking ace Darius Garmondeh delivered a masterclass performance, scoring a stunning hat-trick that tore through Freeport’s defense. Defender Jusu Duckly added the fourth to cap off a dominant display for the reigning league leaders.
Freeport managed to respond through Amos Sogbe and Musa Koulibaly, but their goals proved insufficient against Watanga’s relentless press and superior organization.
The Bushrod Island side endured their second straight defeat following a 3–0 loss to Gardnersville FC in Round Six. Their defensive issues and off-field distractions have raised questions about discipline and focus in the camp.
Watanga, meanwhile, continue to set the pace at the summit. Following their 2–1 win over Borough FC last weekend, the victory at Tusa Field solidifies their status as the only undefeated team in the league this season.
Downtown FC 0–0 Bea Mountain FC Stalemate at the Open Grounds
In a tightly contested match in the opening encounter at Tusa field Downtown FC and Bea Mountain FC played to a goalless draw that did little to change either side’s fortunes.
Downtown, who suffered a 2–1 defeat to Heaven Eleven last week, showed defensive improvement but lacked cutting edge in attack. They remain rooted to the bottom of the table with just a handful of points to their name.
Bea Mountain’s failure to convert chances leaves them mid-table and frustrated, having managed only one win in their last six fixtures, a disappointing run for a club with ambitions of returning to the top four.
FC Fassell 0–0 LPRC Oilers – Champions Held at Home
At the SKD Practice Pitch, defending champions FC Fassell were held to a frustrating 0–0 draw by a determined LPRC Oilers side.
The Oilers, coming off a narrow defeat to LISCR in Round Six, displayed impressive discipline and organization, frustrating Fassell’s forwards throughout the encounter. Despite dominating possession, the champions failed to find the cutting edge needed to secure all three points.
Fassell now trail leaders Watanga by several points, prompting concerns among fans about the team’s sharpness and hunger in their title defense.
Heaven Eleven 2–1 Wologisi FC – Montserrado Side Build Momentum
Down in Buchanan, Heaven Eleven continued their resurgence with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Wologisi FC at the Doris Williams Sports Pitch.
Goals from Moses Frederick and Tony Zortiah ensured the visitors took all three points, while Kiafa Sheriff grabbed a late consolation for Wologisi. The win marks Heaven Eleven’s second consecutive triumph and their third of the season, moving them steadily up the table.
Wologisi’s inconsistency remains a major concern; they have now lost three in a row, slipping further down the standings.
Discoveries SA 0–1 LISCR FC – Blandja Delivers Again for the Shipping Boys
In Gompa, LISCR FC continued their fine run with a narrow but deserved 1–0 win over Discoveries SA.
Forward Seidou Blandja scored the decisive goal, his second in as many games, as the Shipping Boys showcased their trademark efficiency and composure on the road.
LISCR’s back-to-back 1–0 wins following last weekend’s success over Oilers underline their growing confidence and tactical maturity. The result lifts them into the top three and within striking distance of the league leaders.
Round Seven Results

Analysis: Watanga on the Rise, Fassell Under Pressure
As the season edges toward its midway point, Watanga FC stand tall as the team to beat — unbeaten, confident, and clinical. LISCR have quietly emerged as strong contenders, while FC Fassell’s inability to turn dominance into victories is now a growing concern.
At the other end, Downtown FC’s attacking woes persist, while Freeport FC must regroup quickly to stop their slide and restore order both in performance and matchday management.
Round Seven’s results prove that consistency, not just talent, will determine who rises and who fades in the 2025/26 LFA First Division campaign.
