Africa-Press – Liberia. WESTCREST Liberia, a mineral Exploration and Development company operating in Bong County, Margibi, and Grand Bassa County, donated three borehole hand Pumps to communities within its project operation areas over the weekend.

The initiative, valued at US$16,000 , is part of the company’s commitment to address the issue of safe drinking water in its project area. The project comes as a relief to Tokpaipolu and Tamba in Bong County, as well as Wolo and Shaking Town in Grand Bassa and Margibi counties, respectively, where access to safe water has been a persistent challenge.

“We are pleased to have been able to support these communities in such a meaningful way,” said Amara KAMARA, Director and Senior In-Country Advisor of WESTCREST Liberia. “Access to clean water is a fundamental human right, and we are proud to contribute to improving the health and well-being of the residents in these areas.”

KAMARA noted that the project reflects WESTCREST Liberia’s ongoing commitment to supporting communities within its Mineral exploration operational areas. Phase two of the borehole and pump installation exercise, according to KAMARA, is set to commence in various project areas, demonstrating the company’s ongoing dedication to supporting local communities through meaningful initiatives that make a tangible difference.

In response to the donation, Robert Yorwaway, the General Town Chief of Tokpaipolu, noted that “boreholes and hand pumps” will transform the lives of his people and improve overall community health.

“We are immensely grateful to WESTCREST Liberia and West26 for this invaluable contribution to our community,” Yorwaway said. “Access to clean water will greatly improve our daily lives and the health of our families.”

As for Kartus Wokpeh, the town chief of Shaking Town, Geegbarn District # 2 Grand Bassa county, he noted that the installation of this borehole hand pump represents a milestone for his community.

“We thank WestCrest Liberia for their commitment to our well-being and look forward to further collaborations that benefit our town,” Wokpeh said.
